More sketches, warm-ups and pre work doodles.
This week I focused on thinking up some illustration ideas for stuff I could work on, and some colour practise with Manga Studio 5!
Plus, a some costume design for a comic. Tried several different styles and forms for the desses, and I really like the work I did. Even though I don’t actually know the first thing about fashion design, I just tried working with a few visual cues I knew.
And finally a little Metal Gear Solid fanart.
I’d buy car insurance from THIS guy!
(Quick two-page comic I did! Its a Magic The Gathering joke!)
This week’s sketchbook is pretty much all Concept Art and Costume Design.
This is for a bit of a passion project/comic I’m working on with a friend. Its coming soon!
Our brand-new comic, launched just today, will update every Tuesday and Friday. So come on back regularly and follow the space-adventures of the space-future as they develop… in space!
These two are people who love the medium of sequential art enourmously, and not just in being fans of comics, but also of making them. These two are hugely talented people who know very well how to craft a story and to illustrate it to its best. Though as artists we are always learning, they’ve proven to being a force to be reckoned with in the webcomics world.
Gun and Psu have both been great teachers to me through the years and I want to thank them openly for their help and support with my own art and career, and I wish them only the best.
If you know about me you probably already know about them - but I do formally request you give this comic a very much deserved shot.
Another sketchbook week! This time featuring some design work, practise on some chubby-lookin’ hands and even a football stadium early on!
Also did some Heads in perspective, and tried out some art ideas.
I’ll try to get more full illustrations on the blog in any case.
My week in sketches!
Took the weekend off, but here’s the rest, pretty much!
They’re all basically warmups for work, nothing too complete. But there is some anatomy-in-perspective study, an idea or two for future illustrations, some fanart of a certain character, and some Costume Design for an upcoming comic I’m working on as a personal project!
Also, quick reminder, if you like what you see here, there’s daily updates on my twitter!
This week’s sketchbook!
Starting with a little fanart, some general warmups and I happened to use the space to get a little character work done.
Some eyes, a little toothy for laurangeblossom and some general warmups from photographic reference!
Its the Lovely Ladybug’s origin story! How she got her suit, her powers, her motivation…
I find myself loving these more and more. They’re fun, charmingly written and everyone I know that’s given em a read ends up loving them. Give em a shot!
This was the process involved in designing Hotline Miami’s MOON Poster for VConcert 2014.
The main intent was to replicate both the game’s aesthetic and replicate the 80’s revival neo-noir neon visual, which would also represent the music involved.
There was more than one concept being developed, and eventually scrapped but I’m glad I ended up landing on both a very graphic eye-catching concept, and an image that quickly jumps to the game itself!
It was super great working on this, and not that my work is without its faults, but I’m quite satisfied with the end result, and I hope you enjoy! And check out the captions for a quick description of each step!
And again, if you want to check out more about VCon and see the rest of the lineup and the posters designed, as always, check out the Official Facebook Page!
The week’s sketches!
Didn’t exactly do em everyday out of one or another reason, but I still got some good juice out of it! From illustration ideas, practise in perspective, figuring out some poses both from reference and imagination.
