Maaan, I keep trying to make this blog art-only/zero reblogs, but … I keep fuckin’ up. S like life! :D
Seriously though, who thought it’d be a good idea to sell AIs as Operating Systems?
Maybe its cos I’ve been playing Mass Effect lately (where AI research is, quite logically, totally illegal) but thats all I was thinking during “Her.”
Joaquim Phoenix is naturally creepy, I think. Put him in a pair of hornrims and give him a paedo stache and he turns even moreso.
And then have him fall in love with an AI and essentially phone/cyber it.
But you seriously can’t BUY the fact that only ONE character in the film treats it as something that isn’t everyday and normal.
Either way, the film was shot BEAUTIFULLY and is just a very nicely written romance.
Here’s the rest of February.
Some shoddy character designs, ideas, practise…
Kinda wishin’ tumblr’d give me more room but then again, I’m really just uploading these for completion’s sake.
Ooh, also. Loved “Peabody and Sherman”, “Her” was gorgeously written and shot, but I couldn’t really take it seriously, and here’s the rest of February…
No seriously. I really gotta get over all my bullshit.
I get several simple thoughts during the time I don’t have a computer. Mainly I just think I should get over myself and find a way to work on a portfolio.
There’s a really neat tool I found called Universal Pokemon Randomizer. It runs on any US Pokemon rom from Gen1 Red to Gen5 Black2, and completely randomizes the game in a really cool way.
Here’s a list from the site of what it randomizes:
- The Starter Pokemon choices.
- The Wild Pokemon you encounter in grass, caves and other places.
- The Pokemon that Trainers use against you.
- The base stats which define the potential of each Pokemon.
- The elemental types of each Pokemon.
- The abilities of each Pokemon, in games where they exist.
- The moves that Pokemon learn by gaining levels.
- The contents of each TM which can be taught to Pokemon to give them additional moves (HM moves are not changed to make sure you can still beat the game)
- The ability of each Pokemon to learn each TM or HM move.
- The “static” Pokemon which you either are given, fight on the overworld, or are sold.
- The names of trainers & the classes they belong in.
- The moves taught by move tutors, for games within which they are significant enough.
It’s really really cool and I recommend it.
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER
I think I want to Nuzlocke Black while doing this
This is the absolute perfect Nuzlocke complement.
My point is, I thought I’d have a computer by now.
Welp! Instead of uploading months at a time, I guess I’ll have to split!
I’m only allowed 10 pictures so…
Some Concept art, some reference work from the Winter Olympic games, a bit of fanart here and there, and some art featuring General Freedom alongside Agent Lee!
And there’s more to come for this month…
I really should start practising animation.
Here’s the last of January’s sketchbook!
As you can see, I saw The Wolf of Wall Street. Thought I’d go ahead and sketch some stuff from the movie. I noticed I hadn’t actually practised any cloth or clothing as a whole so when else but a movie with 90’s fashion and overdone shoulderpads?
And on the last page some art and designs for /co/’s Skathi. Thought I’d play around with silhouettes and maybe some desert wear for her ventures beyond the icelands. Also. Her spear.
I’ll post Febuary’s at the end of the month!
Considering my lack of artposts, I thought I’d start doing some of these as to sorta report what’s up with me.
I’m working on earning and saving enough to get myself a new computer soon. That’s one thing. So far, its been tough to keep working with the same ease and productivity without one.
That said, I have been keeping busy! I’ve been working on two short comics. One of them I’ve had in production since last year (but just now I’ve actually been in the right state of mind to actually buck up and act professionally.)
I’ve also been looking into some ways I could get into doing comissions in a manageable way. That’d maybe include partnering up with someone.
…And I’ve still got the sketchbook going! Like I said last time, I’m waiting a bit more from post to post as to not clutter the blog too much. But I’ve been doing all kinds of visual exercises. Referencing cloth and lighting from movies, doing some more dynamic poses from imagination…. But I’ll have that up once I have enough to merit a post!
I’ve had a craving for doing busts and caricatures. Most of em football related… So I might get to that too!
This sketchbook thing is seriously the best thing I could’ve done for my art skills. Seriously.
